Are Permanent Lights Worth It? Honest Pros and Cons

Permanent lights have become one of the most searched home upgrades. But are they worth it for you? Here is a balanced look.

Pros: no more ladders every season; one system for every holiday and everyday evenings; color, scene and schedule control from your phone; a clean, discreet look during the day; and added curb appeal at night.

Cons: a higher upfront cost than seasonal string lights; the look is tied to your roofline layout; and quality varies between products and installers, so choosing carefully matters.

Questions to ask any installer: What product do you use and how is it rated for outdoor use? How is it mounted and sealed? What is the warranty and who handles support? Can I see a design before I commit?

If you decorate every year, love lighting your home for celebrations, or simply want a beautiful everyday glow, permanent lights are often a worthwhile upgrade.
