Architectural and Garden IlluminationLandscape Lighting in Wesley Chapel

Landscape lighting does two jobs: it makes the walk, steps and driveway easy to see, and it shows off the best parts of your yard after dark. Tropical Paralights designs and installs low-voltage landscape lighting for homes in Wesley Chapel and the surrounding Pasco and Hillsborough communities, starting with an at-home design visit.

Landscape lighting along a palm-lined walkway at dusk

What to light, and what to leave dark

Start with three or four focal points: your strongest palm or oak, the front entry and the main walk. Light those well and the yard looks finished. Lighting every bed and shrub usually makes a home look busy, not better.

Dark areas are part of the design. Leaving some lawn and side yard unlit gives the lit areas contrast and keeps light from spilling onto neighbors.

Palms, oaks, paths and walls

Tall palms look best with two uplights from different sides so the trunk doesn't look flat. Large live oaks can be lit from the ground or, with moonlighting, from fixtures high in the tree aimed down through the branches.

Path lights work best staggered about eight to ten feet apart. For stucco walls, stone and columns, a fixture close to the surface aimed straight up brings out texture. We use warm white, around 2700 to 3000 kelvin, because it flatters Florida homes and plants.

Built for Florida rain, sun and sprinklers

Florida yards are hard on lighting: daily irrigation, summer storms, heat and string trimmers. We use outdoor-rated Haven Lighting fixtures, direct-burial wire and sealed connections, and we keep fixtures out of direct sprinkler spray.

The transformer is sized with room to add fixtures later, and wire runs are planned so the last light on a line is as bright as the first.

Design visit, quote and warranty

We walk the yard with you, mark fixture locations, and note sprinklers, roots and power. Then you get a clear written quote with no pressure to decide that day. Our installation work carries a six-month labor warranty, and the products carry the manufacturer's warranty, which is about one year on most items.

We are a new, locally owned company run by licensed and insured exterior contractors in Wesley Chapel. We serve homes in about a 20-mile radius, plus selected cities in Pasco, Hillsborough and Hernando counties.

A little clarity

Questions, answered.

How much does landscape lighting cost?

It depends on the number and type of fixtures and how far they are from power. Because yards vary so much, we quote after seeing the property instead of publishing one price.

Is low-voltage lighting safe around kids and pets?

Low-voltage systems run at a much lower voltage than household outlets once past the transformer, which is one reason they are the standard for residential landscape lighting.

Can I add more lights later?

Yes. We size the transformer and wiring with room to grow, so adding a tree or bed later is straightforward.

Can I control the lights from my phone?

Yes. Haven Lighting systems have app control for schedules, brightness and scenes.
